Double Chocolate Protein Mug Cake! For those days when you need cake and you need it now. Full of protein and wholesome delicious ingredients.

Double Chocolate Protein Mug Cake in a blue bowl

True story, there was a year back in college when Caleb and I went through a major “dessert in a mug” phase and probably made a cookie, cake, etc in a mug at least 3 times every week. #WhatATimeToBeAlive. So this double chocolate cake in a mug is bringing back all those memz with a slightly healthier take. I love a good “dessert in a mug” recipe because sometimes 1. you want something fast and 2. you really don’t want enough leftover cake to last 2 weeks. So a cake in a mug is the perfect solution! Super quick and delicious, you’re going to love!

Description

Double Chocolate Protein Mug Cake! For those days when you need cake and you need it now. Full of protein and wholesome delicious ingredients.

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1/2 mashed banana
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp coconut flour
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp chocolate chips (or more to taste)

Instructions

  1. Combine all of the ingredients in a microwave safe bowl or mug.
  2. Microwave for 2 – 2 1/2 minutes.
  3. Top with whatever you want! More chocolate chips, peanut butter, a drizzle of almond milk, ice cream, etc

Notes

  1. This mug cake is super versatile so you can add it whatever you want! I went with chocolate chips but you could try chopped candy, nuts, etc. I also recommend adding a fun topping: a drizzle of peanut butter, more chocolate, ice cream. So many options!
  2. If you like your cake on the sweeter side, add an additional tbsp of maple syrup!
