The best Maple Pecan Bread with Cream Cheese Icing! An easy one-bowl bread recipe made with maple syrup and studded with pecans then topped with the must luscious cream cheese icing. Delicious!
One of the stranger things about me is that when I was a kid (and to an extent as an adult) I hated cheese. Like all forms of cheese. Every busy mom’s go-to: aka the Mac & Cheese? Couldn’t have bribed me with candy to eat even one single bite. Yet weirdly, my favorite icing was hands down cream cheese icing, and I could probably have eaten a bucket of it if you had just given me a spoon.
I still love me some cream cheese icing to no end (I even had it on my wedding cake) and I’m always looking for recipes to top it with. Enter my insanely delicious Maple Pecan Bread. Lightly sweetened with maple syrup and full of pecans, it’s just delicious! Plus that icing on top honestly just takes it to the next level, you know what I mean? Seriously the best breakfast or snack, I know you’re going to love!
Lets take a look at some of the key ingredients in this Maple Pecan Bread:
- Eggs – I don’t recommend substituting “flax eggs” in this recipe.
- Maple Syrup – If you don’t have maple syrup you can replace it with any liquid sweetener, honey, agave, etc. If you replace it that will take away some of the “maple” flavor unless you use maple extract.
- Coconut Oil – My favorite substitute for other oils and sometimes even butter.
- Vanilla Extract
- Maple Extract – Optional but adds that super maple flavor like in a maple donut.
- Almond Butter – Any nut butter will work, but I think almond, walnut, or cashew butter will have the best flavors.
- Almond Milk (or milk of choice)
- Almond Flour – One of my favorite gluten free flours to cook with! Adds a moist and denseness to the bread while still being light and fluffy.
- Cinnamon
- Pumpkin Pie Spice – You can also make your own. Here’s a good recipe.
- Cream Cheese – You can use a vegan version.
- Butter – You can use a vegan version.
- Powdered sugar – I just used regular powdered sugar but if you’re looking for sugar free this is a good one.

Description
The best Maple Pecan Bread with Cream Cheese Icing! An easy one-bowl bread recipe made with maple syrup and studded with pecans then topped with the must luscious cream cheese icing. Delicious!
Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 1/3 cup maple syrup (see notes)
- 1/4 cup melted coconut oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp maple extract (optional)
- 1/3 cup almond butter
- 1/4 cup almond milk (or milk of choice)
- 2 1/4 cups almond flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/3 cup chopped pecans and a few more for on top
For the Icing:
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 tbsp butter, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp maple extract (optional)
- 2/3 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350. Line a bread pan with parchment paper and set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, maple syrup, coconut oil, vanilla extract, maple extract, almond butter, and almond milk until smooth.
- Add in the almond flour, baking soda, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, and salt and mix until well combined. Fold in pecans.
- Pour the batter into the bread pan and bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- For the icing: in a stand mixer (or using a hand mixer) beat together the cream cheese, butter, and extracts until smooth. Slowly add in the powdered sugar, mixing until smooth.
- Once the bread has cooled, spread the icing on top and sprinkle on additional pecans. Serve and enjoy.
Notes
- This recipe is not a super sweet bread so if you would prefer a sweeter bread I would recommend adding in about 1/3-1/2 cup coconut sugar or brown sugar to the dough.
- The maple extract will add the super “maple” flavor like in a maple doughnut but the bread will taste delicious without it as well.
- Make sure to store in an air-right container in the fridge (cream cheese needs to be refrigerated).
